DIG, North Kashmir chairs police public meeting
Seeks public supports in eliminating the crime


Srinagar, March 18, (Scoop News)-Jammu and Kashmir police will provide all possible legal support and help for constructing a peaceful and crime free society. This was said by DIG, North Kashmir Shri Nitish Kumar while chairing police public meeting in Handwara today.
A huge gathering of people including traders, transporters and civil society’s members of Handwara town participated in the meeting and raised various issues of public interest including the issue of drug addiction.
DIG while speaking on the occasion said that since he himself has served the district as SSP in the past, knows the area and the cordial relationship of the locals with the police authorities.
He said that such meetings are being organized to get the valuable suggestions for better policing and added that Jammu and Kashmir police will provide all possible legal support and help for constructing a peaceful and crime free society.
Referring to the issue of drug addiction DIG said that Jammu and Kashmir police has launched an all-out drive against the drugs peddlers across the valley. He informed the meeting that existing one bed Drug De-Addiction Centre Baramulla is being augmented and upgraded.
He sought the support and cooperation of the locals in identifying and eliminating the crime from the area.
Referring to the issues highlighted by the participants, DIG NKR assured them that issues pertaining to Police, will be solved in shortest possible time and the rest will be taken up with civil administration for immediate redressal.
Among others SSP Handwara Shri Ghulam Jeelani Wani, DSP Ops Handwara Shri Manish, DySP DAR Handwara Shri Farooq Ahmad and All SHO’s of the district were present on the occasion.
Later DIG visited DPL Handwara and Police Station Kralgund where he interacted with the officers and officials.
