Gujjar artists from tribal areas perform at Abhinav theatre

Jammu, March 25, (Scoop News)- A number of Gujjars and Bakerwal artists mainly drawn from hilly and upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir today performed at Abhinave Threare here this afternoon in presence of number of tribal dignitaries, students and scholars witnessed the play.
The programme was specially designed for tribal youth and presented by Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation.
The main attraction of the programme was a musical performance based on a full leghth production directed by Shokat Naseem . A play MAQADAM BAJYOO which reflects the story of a tribal head man who supervise the Jriga a tribal court was main attaraction. The performance was coceptulised by by Dr. Javaid Rahi -a well known tribal researcher.
Dr. AS Amn Additional Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was Chief guest The multi media production was a reflection of the real ethose of life of nomadic Gujjars.
Earlier welcoming the gusts , Dr Javaid Rahi , the writer of the play said the production was designed to portrayed the real picture of nomadic life of Gujjars on the stage. The reflected the social evils with regard to day to day life was reflected in the perform,ance.
The main issues which were touched in the production include old age multi marriages . A folk motif were usede in the production to highlight the issues.
The play was staged in traditional attire and use of their traditional oral lore, music on the stage have took the audience to remote tribal pastures of Gujjar Bakerwals.
Artists who performed in the play Liaqat Ali , Bedar Bakhat, Sarwar Hussain includes Irshad Ahmed, Shabaz Naseem, Basharat Ali, Sadaqat Ali, , Rafi Shabnum, Bedar Bakhat , Naseer Ahmed Archna Sharma. Musical compositions were prepared by Muzamal Shah , Lights were designed by Tariq Fahim and Pankaj Sharma and the Costume / Jewellery was arranged by Malla. The production was held with the support and collaboration of Ministry of Culture, Govt of India.The Director of the play Shokat Naseem introduced his team.
Ch Shokat Naseem said it was a hard work of tribal artists and was prepared in a continues process of 21 days workshop conducted in Rajouri by the foundation.
