Cooperative movement offers bright future for youth: Chering Dorjey
Jammu, March 29, (Scoop News)- Continuing its efforts to reach out to the unemployed educated youth to aware them about various profitable schemes in the Cooperative Sector, the Department of Cooperative organized a youth awareness camp at Sunderbani in Rajouri district today.
A large number of people especially the unemployed youth of the area attended the camp and learnt about the Cooperative movement and lucrative opportunities it provides for the people.
Minister for Cooperative Chering Dorjey was chief guest at the camp.
Addressing the participants, the Minister said Cooperative movement offers bright future for youth through its people friendly schemes. He said such programmes are aimed to create mass awareness among the youth about the numerous schemes launched by the Government in the State. “The department offers lucrative activities for youth by associating with which they can find a bright future ahead” said the Minister and added that the need of the hour is that they come forward and avail benefits of these schemes.
The Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the present Government to boost the Cooperative movement in view of its huge potential to generate employment through well established and profit generating Cooperative Societies.
“Don’t run after government jobs, start your own ventures in the cooperative sector and see you will become job providers instead of job seekers within a shortest time”, he advised them. He said that several steps for streamlining the Cooperative Department has been put in place with the aim that the benefits of the centrally sponsored schemes percolate down to the people especially the youth at grass roots level.
The Minister said that Cooperative Department, which is at the service of people since long time, is playing yeoman’s role in changing the socio economic condition of the people of state. He said that Cooperative Institutions came to play a constructive role in the distribution of rural credit, agriculture inputs and consumer articles.
Dorjey asked the functionaries of the Department to create mass awareness among the people regarding its programmes as this is the key to achieving effective implementation of any scheme. He stressed the need for a close synergy among the authorities and the people as well to revitalize and strengthen the working of cooperative department. He further said that vibrant Primary Agricultural Societies (PACs) can act as midwives for revival of Cooperative movement and asked officers to lay special focus on these micro units.
Later the Minister visited the site for Fertilizer Godown at Thandapani, which is being constructed to overcome the shortage of fertilizers in district Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi. The 1000 mt capacity fertilizer Godown has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 1.26 crore in the year 2012-2013 under centrally sponsored scheme Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) for Thandapani- a strategically located place for supplying to all the three districts. An amount of Rs 48.53 lakh has been released to the PWD (R&B) authorities by the Cooperative Department.
Legislators Ravinder Raina, Surinder Choudhary, Registrar Cooperatives Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Additional Registrar Cooperatives Anjana Tickoo, SDM Suderbani, General Secretary Cooperative Union G.D Bakshi besides representatives of various departments and other officials of the concerned department were present.
