Operation Meghdoot war heroes honoured on Siachen Day | | Udhampur,April 13, (Scoop News)-Every year 13 April is celebrated as Siachen Day to commemorate the historical feat of conquering “Bilafond La” & “Sia La” which had resulted in hosting of Indian National Flag on world’s Highest Battle Field by Captain Sanjay Kulkarni (Now Lieutenant General (Retired)) and his fearless team of 4 KUMAON. Heavy snowfall and freezing temperature could not derail the determination of task force formed to occupy the invincible heights of Glaciated Terrain on 13 April 1984. Under the aegis of Siachen Brigade 34th Siachen Day was celebrated at Siachen Base Camp to pay, homage and tribute to the “OP MEGHDOOT” war heroes who have sacrificed their lives in securing the boundaries of our motherland in the toughest weather conditions, in the highest battle field of the world. Floral tributes by senior officers of the Siachen Brigade, Commanding officers & Subedar Majors of units were payed by laying of wreaths at the Siachen War Memorial. The martyrs were honoured with the sounding of bugles and presenting of arms in salute. ... |
