Undertake community outreach engagements for rural development: Ganga to Students | | Jammu, April 27, (Scoop News)-Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga while urging students to undertake community outreach engagements said it is essential to incorporate social responsibility among youth and encourage regular interactions with rural communities for their development. The Minister said this during the valedictory function for 2-day workshop on ‘Transacting Students Engagement for Rural Community Development’ organized by Central University of Jammu in collaboration with National Council of Rural Institutes (NCRI), Hyderabad, Ministry of Human Resources Development, and Government of India. Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu Prof Ashok Aima, Chairman NCRI Dr W G Prassanna Kumar, Academic Coordinator CUJ Lokesh Verma besides a large number of students were present on the occasion. The Minister appreciating this initiative by the university said that such initiatives are need of the hour in view of continuous urban migration that is increasing the rural-urban divide. He said that the only way to combat this by youth engagement with rural communities. On day two of the workshop, a field visit was organized for students to neighboring villages to provide them with first hand insight into functioning of rural communities and the challenges being faced by them. Discussions were also held regarding avenues for rural communications, rural journalism and rural tourism as part of the rural engagement programme. ... |
