Various KP & Dogra organizations condemn desecration of temple premises of Barg Shika Bhagwati in Mattan
Jammu, April 28, (Scoop News)-Various Kashmiri Pandit and Dogra organizations have strongly condemned the desecration of temple premises of Barg Shika Bhagwati at the hill lock near holy Martand Shrine in Mattan in South Kashmir and demanded stern action against the miscreants involved in the act.


In this connection a meeting of Shri Martand Tirath Trust was held under the leadership of its president A K Sidha in which grave concern was expressed over the desecration of the most revered and ancient temple of presiding deity Mata Bharg Shikha Bhagwati located at hilltop of Martand Tirah, Mattan Kashmir.

During the meeting general secretary Salegram Bawnoo and all the participants while condemning the act said the issue was brought in the notice of district administration and also the higher ups in the Government by the Sabha through Minister of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, A R Veeri.

It said Veeri asked the district administration to take immediate action in this regard. Later a team of district authorities led by Additional Deputy Commissioner along with Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar and SHO Mattan visited the temple premises for an on the spot assessment and lodged a FIR in this connection.

The meeting was informed that the district administration has assured the strict action against the culprits who are hell bent to disturb the communal harmony with such acts. The meeting said the action of miscreants has hurt the sentiments of Hindus in general and Martand Biradri in particular.


Meanwhile All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) alongwith various Kashmiri Pandit and Dogra organisations today staged a protest demonstration against the desecration of famous and revered “Bhargashakha Bhagwati” temple at Mattan by miscreants the other day.
Scores of Pandits and Jammuites assembled at Exhibition Ground and shouted slogans against the District administration and local police for failing to provide adequate security to the temple leading to the desecration by the miscreants.
The protestors sought immediate constitution of Special Investigative Team (SIT) to probe the matter and bring culprits to book to restore the confidence of Kashmiri Pandits in the state administration.
The protestors later took out a rally and shouted slogans against the culprits and the local district administration.
The protest was joined by many social and political organisations of Jammu and Kashmiri Pandits to express outrage over the incident.
Prominent among those who attended todays protest demonstration include chairman APMCC Vinod Pandit M. K. Yougi Ex President Martand Tirath, Prof. Hari Om Veteran Leader Jammu, Ajay Khosa Panun Kashmir, Martand Kp Brigade Charitable Trust Ravi Khah And Pankaj Bhawani, Senior Journalist Ajat Jamwal, Senior Journalist Sunil Raina, Bali Kriahan Ji, Veer Ji Pandita, Team APMCC Vinod Tikoo, Anil Pandita Ranjan Jyotshi, Vineet Raina, Sunil Koul, Ramkriahan Bhat, Sunil DHAR, Jatin Kachroo, ASKPC Members And Women's Team Of Team APMCC.



K P Sabha has also condemned the act strongly and demanded action against the culprits as the temple is one of the sacred shrines of Hindus in Valley situated on the hillock over the holy Sun Temple of Martand.

President of the Sabha K K Khosa while castigating the Jehadi forces for violence and Mayhem unleashed in Kashmir warned majority community not to get misled by Jehadi rhetoric. He said the Kashmir is burning and it will not leave Kashmiris unscathed. The present violence is not separatists/ Azadi movement but utter Jehadi religious fanaticism. He appealed the saner Kashmiri politicians to ponder and douse the fire.
ASKPC president Advocate Ravinder Raina and its general secretary Dr Tej have also expressed their shock over the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants who are playing in the hands of Jehaids to destroy Kashmir. The ASKPC leaders said that majority community in Valley should see through their game plan and work for restoration of peace otherwise the day is not far away when this fire will turn entire Valley into ashes.
KPC president Kundan Kashmiri has also strongly condemned the incident and demanded that the culprits be booked under law of the land. He said the act has exposed the Government which has failed to concede the demand of the community regarding passage of Shrines and Temples Bill which can ensure the safety of shrines and temples in Valley.
He warned the youth indulging in such activities were playing with fire as no religion teaches desecration of places of worship of other religions.
Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) president advocate M L Thusu and its convener P L Koul Budgami have also expressed their shock over the act and said that this shows that the situation is going out of control of government. They demanded that Government should act against such elements with heavy hand and ensure the safety of religious places and shrines in Valley with formation of Shrine Board as demanded by Pandits....
