Kohli, Mir Zahoor dedicate Rs 11.40 cr Hi-Tech Trout Feed Mill to public
Srinagar, May 20, (Scoop News)- Minister for Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Abdul Gani Kohli in presence of Minister of State for Fisheries and Cooperative, Mir Zahoor Ahmad today inaugurated Country 1st Hi-Tech Trout Feed Mill at Manasbal here.
MLA, Sumbal Sonawari Mohammad Akbar Lone, Commissioner Secretary, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, R. K. Bhagat, Director Fisheries R N Pandita, Director Animal Husbandry, Kashmir, Dr Nazir Ahmad and other officers of concerned departments were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kohli said that High Tech Trout Feed Mill Manasbal, constructed in the premises of National Fish Seed Farm, Manasbal, has been completed by expending Rs 11.40 crore. He said that it is the first High Tech Trout Feed Mill in Valley established with modern technology where quality feed for the trout fishes to be produced. He asked the concerned to take optimum use of it.
Asking the officers of fisheries department for organizing awareness camps to sensitize the general masses about the Centrally Sponsored Schemes meant for adopting fish culture. He said that the area has huge potential for rearing fish and people particularly youth have to come forward to avail the benefits of Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He said that youth have to establish their own fish rearing units, adding that this would go a long way in giving the job opportunities to others than job seeking.
Reiterating the commitment of Government for promoting fish culture in the State, the Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal & Sheep Husbandry said that the Government has initiated various steps in this regard. The Union Government is providing liberal funds under the sector, he added.
The Ministers also went round the Mother Seed Farm in Carp Sector and took stock its functioning. The Management of the Fisheries Department briefed the Ministers about the activities being carried out for the development of the fish culture in the State. The Ministers were informed that over 41.03 lakh seeds of different varieties of Carp fish were distributed during 2016-2017.
