| Barring 5300 PoK DP families - attempt to change State’s demography: Chuni | |
Jammu, May 21, (Scoop News)- S. O. S. International – An organization for PoK Displaced Persons today organized a mammoth rally in Jammu. Thousands of PoK Displaced Persons attended the rally and reprimanded the Government for adopting utter malice in the process of delivering ex-gratia relief of Rs 2000 crore out of Rs 80,000 crore Prime Minister’s Development Fund. They also condemned those political parties who have been paying no heed to the plights of PoK Displaced Persons for the last 7 decades.
While addressing the rally, S. O. S. International Chairman Rajiv Chuni said “During out of power, BJP used to shout that demography of the State is being changed and after coming to power, BJP itself has taken the charge to change the demography of State by disowning 5300 State Subject displaced families of PoK presently residing outside the State. These destitute families after their migration from PoK were provided shelters outside the State due to paucity of space here. BJP is patting its own back and now, it is proudly in business of creating more troubles and uncertainty among PoK DPs with continuously wicked gimmicks. What can be more insane that BJP shamefully keeps on playing its dirty political game with no one else but with community who sacrificed their all for the sake of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. He further said that 31, 619 PoK DPs families have been swollen up to more than 2 lakh folks but it is very sad that we are still counted 31, 619 families even after the lapse of 7 decades and out of which 5300 families are under exclusion. “Is it kind of brutal gag with us?” he asked.
S. O. S. International Chairman said that key political parties of State and Centre have remained hostile towards PoK DPs due to which they are constrained to spend their lives in troubles without having fundamental services and it is quite painful that no party is coming forward for their help, no bureaucrat is coming out to give healing touch to the most pitiable populace of the world and what will be more regrettable that their own people have dumped them”, Mr. Chuni stated.
While lambasting over the authorities for keeping snail’s pace in providing ex-gratia relief among beneficiaries, Mr. Chuni said that about 250 families have been given the said amount before March 31, 2017. “More than 3000 PoK DPs families of 1947 whose cases are approved haven’t been delivered the relief amount till now. Along with this, PoK DPs are put in another mental traumatic scenario where Government is putting weird conditions like the beneficiaries should not be adopted children and they should be the biological generation of those who left their ancestral places during Tribal invasion in PoK. During Tribal invasion, most of the people came alone to this side and most of the children were adopted by them. 90% people who left PoK have been died and this ex-gratia relief amount is meant for them which have come after the lapse of 7 decades, they are not alive to get it and now their families have been swollen up. This is the 4th generation of PoK DPs that is set to get the relief amount but Government’s insane conditions have put them in another state of depression. Government says that all the legal heirs have to come together to get the ex-gratia relief. Although, every legal heir will get their own share of the relief amount but they have to apply together, is this legitimate condition of Government? He asked. He further said that if the process of providing relief amount keeps on moving with this momentum, another 25 years will fall insufficient.
He further said that it has been more than a year since Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has taken the reins of State in her hands. “Since she has taken the oath of office, our organization has been seeking time to meet her and apprised her with our problems but till now, the time to have meeting with CM has not been given. It seems that CM immensely hates PoK DPs community at her peak, due to which she is not buying time from her schedule to interact with us. Keeping grudge against a particular community in a democracy can be proved detrimental to Government as PoK DPs acquire a large vote bank share in the State”, he added.
“S. O. S. International is the only organization which has been keeping the spark alive about the problems of PoK DPs by conducting rallies and meetings; otherwise our causes would have been put in cold storage. “A long span of time has already been passed to have the justice but justice is not delivered to us. We are waiting for final verdict but it is being denied all the time by various successive Governments, and now current Government is also following the footsteps of its predecessors to prove the very old and popular saying - Justice delayed is just denied”, he added.
In the rally, Chuni made a fervent appeal that PoK DPs must stand united to get the justice by thwarting the evil designs of hostile forces and toughen hands of S. O. S. International for decisive battle.
