Yoga vital for healthy life: Div Com

Srinagar, May 22, (Scoop News)- Divisional Commissioner, Dr Mandeep K Bhandari, today emphasized the need of adopting Yoga as regular exercise in today’s frazzled lifestyle to lead a healthy and peaceful life.
The Divisional Commissioner said this while addressing a gathering at Yoga Ashram after inaugurating Yoga Shivir for diabetic patients, here today.
On the occasion, Yoga experts of Bhartiya Sanshthan, New Delhi Ved Parkash Rathi and Jai Prakash Agarwal, President Bhartiya Yog Sanshthan Satya Pal Sharma educated the participants about precautionary yoga postures for diabetics and patients suffering from joint pains besides elaborating on broader contours of exercising Yoga.
A large number of people from Talab Tillo, Gole Gujral, Bhagwati Nagar and its adjoining attended the Yoga shivir.
Enumerating the benefits of Yoga, Divisional Commissioner said besides keeping diabetes under control, Yoga also helps in improving digestion, circulation, immunity and keeps human body healthier and energetic. He said that the Yoga has enormous benefits for human body irrespective of caste, creed or colour. He, while highlighting importance of Yoga in today’s exhausted lifestyle, said that this has been universally acknowledged as the best treatment for almost all diseases, cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis etc adding if practiced regularly it eradicates mental stress and keeps the body, mind and intellect fit.
He further said drug addiction is eating up the society from within and suggested that Yoga can also help in keeping the youth away from this social evil. He also stressed on the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt healthy habits like regular Yoga and sports activities.
Later, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the facilities being provided to the Yoga lovers at the ashram. He assured all support to Bhartiya Yog ashram Gole Gujral from district administration and asked to arrange such type of Yoga shivir in other areas of the region.

Intn’l Biodiversity Day celebrated at Ganderbal
GANDERBAL, MAY 22:
Srinagar, May 22, (Scoop News)-
State Biodiversity Board (SBB) in association with State Forest Research Institute celebrated the World Biological Diversity Day-2017 under theme ‘Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism’ at Field Research Station, Dagpora Haran, here today.
Joint Director SFRI, Chairman National Society for Protection of Water Resources, Wetlands and Forests, other officers from SFRI, Teachers and students of several schools of Kashmir Valley participated in the programme.
JD SFRI, who was chief guest on the occasion, highlighted importance of such programmes in creating awareness about sustainable biodiversity and tourism in the state.
Several speakers including students also spoke on the occasion and suggested several measures for sustainable tourism, besides preserving the natural resources and biodiversity. They expressed concern over the growing threats that affect the wildlife populations and Biodiversity.
They said well managed tourism sector can contribute significantly in mitigating the negative impacts on Biodiversity through revenue generated from tourism industry.
Appreciating the rich fauna, flora and natural scenic beauty of the State, the chairman said the Jammu and Kashmir has been blessed with numerous natural resources and need of the hour was to protect them and adopt the best suited sustainable mechanism for its sustenance.
