Army holds a T-20 Cricket Tournament, 8 teams from various schools of remote areas of Reasi district participate
GHSS Reasi adjudged champion.



Reasi, May 22, (Scoop News)-The Indian Army organised a T-20 Cricket Tournament at Zorawar Singh memorial Stadium, Reasi with an aim to bring in communal harmony and to inculcate sportsman spirit amongst the students of Reasi District.


The event assisted the Army’s efforts to promote positive youth development through sports and provide a platform to showcase the hidden talent of local populace.


Eight teams from various schools of remote areas of Reasi District participated in the tournament on league cum knock-out basis from May 16 to May 19, 2017.


Team from Government Higher Secondary School, Reasi was eventually adjudged the champion team with Government Higher Secondary School, Barakh placed at close second in a keenly contested match.


Cricket being one of the most popular sport amongst youth of Jammu and Kashmir, the event witnessed an over whelming response both in participation and spectators. Over 250 locals turned up to witness the matches on a daily basis.


All the participating team members displayed excellent sportsman spirit during the conduct of the tournament. The Sarpanch and elders of the villages in Reasi expressed their appreciation towards the Army in its endeavours to motivate the youth of the region and bring in bonhomie.


They have expressed their desire for more such events to be organised and motivate the youth for choosing a sports career....
