Chief Secretary visits Pulwama; Reviews law & order, developmental scenario
Pulwama, May 27, (Scoop News)- To assess the overall law & order scenario and to review the status of ongoing Mega Projects in Kashmir division, the Chief Secretary, J&K Government B B Vyas today convened a high level meeting with senior officers in Pulwama.
The meeting was attended by Director General Police J&K Dr S P Vaid, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department Raj Kumar Goyal, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Muneer-ul-Islam and SSP Pulwama.
Deputy Commissioners and SSsP of all the districts of Kashmir division, Chief Conservator Forests Kashmir, along with Chief Engineers PHE, PDD PW (R&B), System & Operation attended the meeting through Video Conferencing.
During the meeting, Deputy Commissioners and district police heads apprised the Chief Secretary about the law & order situation in their respective districts and measures taken to bring normalcy in disturbed areas.
While addressing the officers, B B Vyas asked them to initiate mass contact programme by holding regular meetings with civil society members, religious heads and renowned persons of the areas so that they can contribute in bringing peace in the valley. He also asked them to engage Women Self Help Groups for constructive programmes.
The Chief Secretary directed the DCs to keep a check on airing of T V channels by local cable operators which are banned by the government and to closely monitor the media content.
In view of commencement of holy month of Ramadan, B B Vyas asked the DCs and SSsP to ensure all necessary arrangements are put in place so that the people can celebrate the festival without any inconvenience.
He said that those creating law & order problems and trying to disturb the atmosphere of Kashmir valley must be dealt strongly. There is need to keep a close eye on the situation and to take timely action to thwart any untoward incidents.
DGP Dr S P Vaid while addressing the district police heads asked them to conduct regular visits in the areas and hold meeting with people for better police-people coordination and listen to the problems of people which will help to build peoples trust on administration and police. He asked them to organize sports and other activities and ensure engagement of youth in these activities.
Status of ongoing Mega Projects in Kashmir division including National Highway project, construction of Ring Road and laying of Transmission Lines was also discussed in the meeting. Deputy Commissioners informed the meeting about the progress of land acquisition cases, land compensation and status of major road projects.
While addressing the Deputy Commissioners, Chief Secretary directed them to pace up the works and to remove bottlenecks if any hindering the progress of these Mega Projects. He said that these projects should not be delayed or stopped because of flow of funds and any help required from the government will be provided to complete these projects.
District Wise status and progress of these projects was discussed and necessary instructions were issued to further speed up the works.
B B Vyas said that Prime Minister Narinder Modi is personally monitoring the progress on the works of laying Transmission Line and it is important to complete the works in targeted time.
Later the Chief Secretary also chaired a meeting with the officers of Pulwama district to review the developmental scenario besides physical and financial progress of various developmental projects.
Deputy Commissioner apprised the Chief Secretary about the achievements made in different sectors while the District Officers of various departments apprised the meeting about targets achieved by the during the last and current fiscal.
Addressing the officers, B B Vyas said that it is the prime duty of each and every officer to work efficiently to provide better services to the people. He said that focus should be laid on the outcome of the ongoing projects in every sector so that people can witness development on the ground.
He said that government has adopted zero tolerance against corruption and inefficiency. Resolving peoples issues on priority should be the aim of every officer and this will surely help them in building peoples trust and for running the administration in a better way. He also appreciated the officers for performing well during tough times and providing services to the people.
Meanwhile, B B Vyas also visited the proposed sites for establishment of Solid Waste Management at Kandizal and Gallandar in Pulwama.
