Jammu celebrates 3rd international Yoga Day
Yoga ultimate solution for life style induced stress, diseases: Dr Jitendra Singh
Jammu, June 21, (Scoop News)-Despite heavy rains the mass yoga sessions organized by Department of AYUSH witnessed tremendous participation from Yoga practitioners, youth, students and elderly.
Union Minister of State for Prime Minister Office (PMO), Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat, Member of Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma and MLA Jammu West, Sat Sharma performed Yoga to commemorate International Yoga Day.
Divisional Commissioner, Dr M K Bhandari, District Development Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, ADC, Arun Kumar Manhas besides senior officers of police and district administration were also present on the occasion.
Stressing the need for adopting yoga to keep body and mind fit, Dr Jitendra Singh said that yoga has revolutionized health management across the world by offering an opportunity to bring the mind in equilibrium with body besides helping harness an individual’s inner strengths. “Due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the importance of this traditional form of exercise has been recognized globally”, he added.
Dr Singh said that yoga is universally acknowledged as the best treatment for all diseases, and if practiced regularly it eradicates mental stress and keeps the body, mind and intellect fit. “There should be no politics on yoga and everyone should join hands for its propagation”, Dr Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, Bali Bhagat said that Department of AYUSH is organizing Yoga sessions by adhering to common yoga protocol, in every district of the state for creating awareness among the people about the benefits of yoga. We can keep our body free from diseases by performing yoga regularly, the Minister added.
Member of Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma said that yoga’s incorporation of meditation and breathing can help improve a person’s mental well-being. “Regular yoga practice creates mental clarity and calmness, increases body awareness, relieves chronic stress patterns, relaxes the mind, centers attention and sharpens concentration”, he added. He further stressed on students to incorporate yoga in their daily routine to ripe the benefits of increased mind-body coordination.
Representatives from Bhartiya Yog Sansthan and AYUSH also performed live demonstration of common yoga protocol.
