Amarnath accident: Army rescue yatris near Nachlana
CRPF also acted in evacuation of Amarnath Yatris



Jammu, July 16, (Scoop News)-In a major accident, at around 13.55h a bus carrying 45 Amarnath Yatris (46 including Driver) while moving from Jammu to Pahalgam skidded and toppled into Bichlari Nala at Mile stone 177 near Nachlana in Ramban District.

On receipt of the information, the nearby Army units 12 Rashtriya Rifles and 23 Rashtriya Rifles under Commanding Officer 23 Rashtriya Rifles immediately rushed with 17 columns to extricate the passengers from the ill-fated bus which had fallen into a deep gorge.

While 16 yatris lost their lives in this unfortunate accident, the timely action by the Army personnel helped in rescue and evacuation of many seriously injured passengers. The injured were initially evacuated to SDH Banihal and Ramsoo. Subsequently 19 yatris were evacuated by Indian Air Force helicopter to Jammu while 11 were moved by road to Srinagar.






CRPF also acted in evacuation of Amarnath Yatris


A Bus carrying Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims from Jammu to Pahalgam met with an unfortunate accident near Ramban. CRPF acted as first responder in evacuating yatris as a team CRPF Personnels deployed in Ramban immediately rushed to the accident site alongwith Doctor, Ambulance and Quick Action Team (QAT). Once again the commitment of CRPF was evident by their prompt action in evacuating the yatris and taking them to the safer place. The personnel of the force were also present at the evacuation spot in Jammu Airport from where injured yatris were immediately rushed to GMCH, Jammu in the Civil as well as CRPF Ambulance. The force personnel also provided exemplary assistance to the civil authorities / doctors / medical staff in Govt. Medical College Hospital, Bakshi Nagar, Jammu where the injured are being given required medical treatment. CRPF expresses deep grief over the untimely death of the pious souls and prayed Almighty to give strength to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable loss and wish for the speedy recovery of injured pilgrims.
