PCI Sub-Committee arrives in Srinagar on weeklong visit | Committee to meet Media Owners, Editors, Journalists to take first-hand appraisal of issues confronting Media in Kashmir; Panel to visit Jammu, Ladakh separately | Srinagar,July 16, (Scoop News)-The 3-Member Sub-Committee of the Press Council of India (PCI) headed by S N Sinha arrived here today on a weeklong visit to Kashmir to discuss the issues facing the media in J&K. The other members of the Sub-Committee include Mr C K Nayak, Dr Suman Gupta and Mr Naveen Joshi. The committee members were received at the Srinagar International Airport by the Director Information, Mr Muneer-ul-Islam and other officers of the Directorate of Information. During their stay in the Valley, the PCI Sub-Committee members will be meeting the Media Owners, Editors and Journalists at Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla to take first-hand appraisal of the issues confronting the Media in Kashmir. The Sub-Committee members are also scheduled to meet the Governor, Mr N N Vohra, the Chief Minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, former Chief Minister, Mr Omar Abdullah, Information Minister, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali, Finance Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu and Director General Police Dr S P Vaid. The Sub-Committee will be visiting Jammu and Ladakh separately to interact with the media-persons there. The Sub-Committee had earlier visited the State in June 2012. ... |
