Jammu admin launches drive against illegal power connections
DC led team inspects localities in Nanak Nagar area

Jammu, July 18, (Scoop News)- The District Administration Jammu today launched a massive drive to remove illegal power connections and aware people about the importance of judicious use of electricity.
Led by Deputy Commissioner, Rajeev Ranjan the team comprised SP South Jammu Sandeep Choudhary, XEN M&RE Div II Gandhi Nagar, Tehsildar Bahu and PDD functionaries conducted inspections in localities and markets of Nanak Nagar area. They inspected power connections of households, business establishments and removed connections being illegally availed. The team of officials also removed hooking and imposed fine on households, shops who had by passed the power lines from the meters.
The team interacted with locals and asked them to use power judiciously, particularly during peak hours, to avoid breakdown of distribution transformers.
“The people should understand that judicious use of electricity will save them from sudden power breakdowns due to damage of Transformers–which cause problem for both public and the government” the DC said while interacting with the locals.
He urged the people to cooperate with the government by switching off fans lights and ACs when they are not in the room. He also asked the people to regularize their connections, if they haven’t done it so far.
