LOC Shelling:DDC inspects relief camps, affected villages
217 rescued yesterday were handed over to their parents


Nowshera (Rajouri), July 19, (Scoop News)- District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today visited various villages affected due to border shelling , schools damaged and different relief camps to review the arrangements. More than 60 students shifted to camps out of 217 rescued yesterday were handed over to their parents .
There are 852 families comprised of 3411 persons residing in 5 relief camps whileas in view of repeated ceasefire violations and interior areas affected due to shelling 3 more buildings have been earmarked as relief camps. Shelling was reported in different areas of Manjakote today and 10-12 shells landed in premises of Primaryc School Kalotra and Kotedhara in Manjakote however no shelling was reported in Nowshera sub-division.
DDC informed that district administration has already initiated construction of 100 bunkers in Nowshera out of which work has been started on 20 and a similar scheme has also been devised for affected areas of Manjakote. The bunkers are being constructed under convergence of various developmental schemes.
Migrants at various relief camps of Nowshera have been provided ration, firewood, GenSets, medical facilities, potable drinking water and other basic amenities. Arrangements have also been made for running classes of students in camps while students of Govt Higher Secondary schools Nowshera have been shifted to Govt Degree College Nowshera for smooth running of classes.
SDM Nowshera Harbans Lal, CMO Dr Suresh Sharma, ExEn EM&RE Umesh Parihar, ExEn PHE, ExEn I&FC, Tehsildar Nowshera/ Qila Darhal and officers of Rural development, Revenue, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry also accompanied the DDC.
A meeting was also held with affected people in relief camps and forward areas. Administration has also issued advisory regarding prohibition nigh-movement of vehicles beyond Kalsian till further orders.
More than 80 livestock mostly including Sheep, Goats were also reported dead due to shelling in forward areas, Meanwhile an immediate cash assistance of Rs 10,000 each was also sanctioned for 3 persons injured due to shelling namely Sanjeev Kumar, Mulkh Raj and Santosh Sharma. All schools in Nowshera and Manjakote Tehsils have been closed for an indefinite period by the district administration.
