Six people killed and 11 injured due to cloudburst, several houses, shops damaged
Governor,Chief Minister ,Others express grief


Thatri (Doda), July 20, (Scoop News)-At least six people were killed and 11 others due to cloudburst near Thatri in Doda district on early Thursday morning, police said.


"This morning at 2 am (IST) a cloudburst struck in Thatri village in which six people were killed and 11 others were injured," police in Doda told Scoop News by phone.


"Lot of devastation has been caused in the village in which several houses, shops and other structures were damaged," they added.


Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic death of six persons in a cloudburst which hit the Thatri area of Doda district early this morning.


Mehbooba Mufti has directed the District administration to intensify rescue and rehabilitation operations, provide adequate hospital treatment to the injured and make arrangements of shelter, food and other facilities for the people affected by the cloudburst and consequent flashfloods.


The Chief Minister has asked the Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary to rush to Doda and oversee the relief and rescue operations.



Governor N.N. Vohra has expressed grief over the loss of precious lives and conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the families of those killed in the cloudburst triggered flash floods in Thathri town of Doda district last night.
Governor is saddened to also learn about the damage to residential and commercial properties and a school, caused by the flash floods. He has advised urgent start of the work for the restoration of the damaged properties and provision of relief.



Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) and Information, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today expressed grief over the tragic death of six persons in a cloudburst in Thatri area of Doda district.
Mr Zulfkar asked the administration to rush with men and machinery for carrying out rescue and rehabilitation for the affected people.






Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo today expressed grief over the loss of human life in cloudburst at Thatri.
Prof. Mattoo expressed solidarity with the families who lost their dear ones in this tragic incident. He said that directions have been passed to officials to start relief and rehabilitation work without any delay.
