DGP thanks CM for increase in ex-gratia to police martyrs; creation of JKPS Cadre
Srinagar, August 10, (Scoop News)- Director General of Police (DGP),Dr. S.P Vaid has thanked Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti for increasing the ex-gratia relief substantially to the kins of Police martyrs and also for creation of J&K Police Service Cadre for Gazetted officers of J&K Police.


Dr. Vaid was speaking at a police darbar held in a series of darbars at Range Police Headquarters here today. He said that he is happy to honour and reward the police men and officers, who have contributed in the restoration of normalcy and against militancy.


Praising the Srinagar police for investigation in the murder case of Dy.SP Mohammad Ayub Pandith, DGP impressed upon the men and officers to enhance their investigation skills and bring the criminals to book but ensure to be polite with the common people who seek help and assistance from the police.


Referring to the health care policy, which is under consideration, the DGP advised the police personnel to take good care of their health and also take all precautions to protect themselves from militant attacks and stone pelting when they are out on duty. He said that bullet proof vehicles and protective gears should be put to maximum use and also care should be taken of the weapons allotted to the people on guard/ escort and other general duties.


DGP thanked the State govt. particularly the Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti for increasing the ex-gratia relief substantially from Rs. 7 lakhs to Rs. 20 lakhs and creating J&K Police Service Cadre. He said that the present dispensation in the govt. has been kind enough to consider favourably the proposals of PHQ and hoped that the other proposals with regard to opening of promotion avenues of Inspectors, SIs,ASIs and HCs will also be looked into favourably.


Highlighting the role of Srinagar Police in tackling the situations, the DGP said that all measures must be taken to keep the militancy and law & order incident to a minimum in Srinagar city.


Referring to the welfare measures, DGP said that an amount of Rs. 21 crore has been disbursed among the police personnel as welfare relief and loan and about Rs. One crore has been disbursed as welfare relief/loan among the SPOs.


Speaking on the sidelines of the darbar with media persons, DGP said that to wean away the youth from militancy our efforts will continue so that all those who wish to live an honourable life, would be saved from death and destruction. In reply to a question, DGP said that some measures have been taken to thwart the incidents of weapon snatching, which are bearing results.


Reflecting on the crime work of JKP, DGP said that a number of sensational crime cases including the attack on Amarnath Yatra bus has been professionally investigated and solved. With regard to the achievements of police and security forces, Dr. Vaid said that ‘Operation All Out’ will continue.


Earlier, DIG Central Kashmir Range Sh. Ghulam Hassan Bhat in his welcome address gave a brief of the work and functioning of the range police. He said that because of the effective steps taken by the police, the number of law and order incidents have substantially decreased. He said that a few youth of the range have joined militant ranks and police is taking efforts to make them return back to their families. He thanked the DGP and PHQ for making available adequate funds for repair works in police establishments. He said that as per PHQ directions CCTVs have been installed and mobility of police has been increased manifold.


During the darbar , orders of out of turn promotion to 30 police officers / jawans of the range and conversion orders to 28 SPOs were handed over for their excellent work in fight against militancy. A piping ceremony was also held for these officers/Jawans.


Among others, IGP Kashmir Sh. Muneer Ahmad Khan, SSP Srinagar Sh. Imtiyaz Ismail Parray, SSP Ganderbal Sh. Fayaz Ahmad Lone AIsGP PHQ OSD PHQ and other police officers were present at the darbar. A number of police personnel raised their grievances to which the DGP said will be redressed favourably. ...
