Chief Secretary review implementation of AMRUT in JK
59 projects costing Rs 593 cr being taken up in 5 cities, towns
Srinagar, August 17, (Scoop News)-Chief Secretary, B B Vyas Thursday chaired the State Level High Power Steering Committee (SLHPSC) meeting here to review the status of implementation of AMRUT in J&K and to approve DPRs cleared by State Level Technical Committee (SLTC).
The Committee took an extensive review of projects being implemented under AMRUT a Centrally Sponsored Flagship Scheme and cleared 21 projects for implementation in the 05 AMRUT Cities/Towns viz. Srinagar, Jammu, Anantnag, Leh & Kargil.
Commissioner/Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department/Mission Director, AMRUT presented status report of each project and informed that for J&K, 59 projects have been approved for the entire Mission Period (2015-20), costing Rs. 593.05 Crore by the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, GoI in State Annual Action Plans 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-20.
Out of total 59 approved projects, 54 projects have been tendered and 28 projects have been allotted and execution of 21 projects is in progress.
While taking stock of city/town wise progress, it was informed that in Srinagar city, out of total 19 approved projects at an aggregate cost of Rs. 234.21 Crore, tenders have been published for 18 projects against which work has been allotted for 13 projects and execution started on 10 projects. The projects include 02 projects of Multitier Parking at Sheikh Bagh and State Motor Garages in Srinagar cty, 07 drainage projects, 03 sewerage and Septage projects for peripheral area, One project of Water Supply, one project of Development of Pedestrian Walkways/footpath and Cycle Track, One project of intelligent traffic system and 03 projects of Green Spaces.
Likewise in Jammu city, out of total 15 projects at an aggregate cost of Rs. 206.15 Crore, tenders have been published for 14 projects against which work has been allotted for 6 projects and execution started on 05 projects. The projects include 02 projects of Multitier Parking at Panjtirthi and Peerkho in Jammu city for decongestion of old city, 19 drainage sub-projects, 02 sewerage and Septage projects, one project of Development of Pedestrian Walkways and footpath, One project of intelligent traffic system and one project of Green Spaces.
As regards Anantnag town it was informed out of total 9 projects at an aggregate cost of Rs. 77 Crore, tenders have been published for 8 projects against which work has been allotted for 5 projects and execution started on 03 projects. The projects include Parking project at Janglat Mandi, construction of 4 MLD STP, Storm Water drainage, procurement of Sucker Jetting Machines, Beautification of Khannabal Corridor and development of Green Spaces at Sheerpora.
As regards Leh and Kargil, 16 projects for water supply, Multitier Parking, procurement of Sucker Jetting Machines and Green Spaces have been approved at an estimated cost of Rs. 39.92 Crore and Rs. 40.00 Crore respectively. One project of augmentation of Water Supply for Leh Town has been started and in Kargil town all projects are at tender finalization stage.
Chief Secretary urged Deputy Commissioner, Leh to get tenders of remaining 08 projects finalized and execution started in the current working season. He directed Deputy Commissioner, Kargil/Distt. SE to get the tenders of both water supply schemes finalized in consultation with Commissioner/Secretary PHE, I&FC within 15 days and simultaneously allotment of remaining 05 projects be finalized within the same period.
Chief Secretary directed all the respective HoDs to review the progress of all the projects personally on fortnightly basis and timelines fixed be strictly adhered to.
Chief Secretary directed that the implementing agencies should create dedicated website of each AMRUT city/town. Website must contain complete detail of all projects sanctioned for the city/town, status of their execution alongwith photographs to be uploaded by the respective monitoring & inspection teams regularly.
