Induction Programme for students organized at JU

Jammu,August 18, (Scoop News)- The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized an elaborate Induction Programme- 2017 for newly admitted students of the University of Jammu today at Gen. Zorawar Singh Auditorium.
Prof. S.C. Raina, Vice-Chancellor, H.P. National Law University, Shimla and Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police, Jammu were the Guests of Honour.Both the dignitaries are the luminous alumni of the University of Jammu. Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu presided over the function. The programme was attended by a huge gathering of newly admitted students, distinguished achievers, facultymembers, and employees of the University of Jammu.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. S.C. Raina congratulated the students for being selected to pursue higher education from the prestigious University of Jammu as it has taken new leaps in every sphere. He also complemented the University authorities for organizing such orientation programme at the beginning of the session which would make the tenure of their studies more relevant and meaningful.
Dr. S.D. Singh Jamwal shared the interesting instances of the time of his studentship in the University of Jammu. He urged students to utilize their time very judiciously and aspire for higher goals.
Prof. R.D. Sharma congratulated the students and informed that this programme was organized to guide, motivate and inspire students. He exhorted upon all to utilize this period in the University thoughtfully as the educational institutions plays a major role in shaping one’s personality which results in the achievement of goals. Terming students as the ambassadors of the institution they are part of, Prof. Sharma stressed on the importance of Conduct, Character and Commitment.

Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Satnam Kour formally welcomed the gathering and also presented a precise presentation regarding the various aspects, salient features, central facilities and support system of the University of Jammu.
Prof. Keshav Sharma (Dean Academic Affairs), Dr. Meenakshi Kilam (Registrar) and Prof. S. K. Pandita (Chairman Campus Culture Committee)also apprised the students about different areas of functioning of the University and also warmly welcomed the newly admitted students in the University.
The idea to conduct such a programme was to apprise the newly admitted students about the University functioning, rules, regulations, guidelines and the facilities provided to them so that they get aware of the ambience and also to avail maximum benefit of the time spent in University. The programme started with a Dance presentation by the students of the University. A short play which was specially created for the occasion, meticulously written and directed by Mr. Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) was also presented and received appreciation of one and all.

On this occasion an Anti Drugs Awareness Art Exhibition by Sh. Suresh Sharma was also organised, which attracted the attention of everyone, particularly of the students for whom it was arranged. An encouraging aspect of this programme was the Felicitation of the Students of University of Jammu who have achieved rare distinction in their career during the year 2016-17. More than 150 such achievers from different teaching departments were felicitated in this programme.

Prof. Kamal Kapoor (Co-Chairman Campus Cultural Committee) presented the formal vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Dr. Anupama Vohra (Associate Dean SW) Dr. Parmil Kumar, Dr. A.R. Manhas (Assistant Deans Students Welfare), Dr. Vinay Thusso(P.R.O. SW),Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor).
Sunakshi Ganotra very ably conducted the event and the hall management was looked after by Divya Sharma, Shetal Lalotra, Jatinder Kour, Manpreet Kour, Vrinda Sharma, Namrta Chib, Anu, Pallavi Sharma, Afshan Mirza, Ankita Chopra, Tanyashri, Ramneet Kour, Chahukeshi and Pratibha Heer.
