DIPR’s Jashn-e-Azadi concludes with cultural programme at GCW Gandhi Nagar
Zulfkar asks youth to become torch bearers of progress
Jammu, August 21, (Scoop News)-Minister for Information, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today asked the youth to become torch bearers of progress by giving their best to the state and country.
The Minister was addressing students and staff during a cultural programme here at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar. The show was organized by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) to mark the culmination of week-long Jashn-e-Azadi.
The young generation should learn from the sacrifices of the leaders who fought with determination against the foreign rulers and paved the way for coming generations to live in a free country on their own terms and conditions, the Minister said. He said in all times it is youth who decide the future of country by taking inspiration from their counterparts from the past. “Today our state is faced with many challenges and all eyes are on the young generation to bring it out of the morass” he added.
Also present on the occasion were Director, FCS&CA R A Inqalabi, Principal, GCW Gandhi Nagar Dr. Kaushal Smotra, Joint Director Information Jammu Manisha Sarin, Deputy Director Information (PR) Avleen Kour, Deputy Controller, Legal Metrology Manoj Parbhakar, Cultural Officer Raman Joshi, Information Officers Priya Lakshmi and Sana Khan.
The Minister said it is the responsibility of every individual to take the state towards the path of development and touch the heights that our leaders dreamt about.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of the Information department for organising scintillating shows during week long Independence Day celebrations. “The most encouraging part of these events was that the participants were mostly students and budding artists of the region” he asserted. He said the department would continue to hold more such events to provide local talent a platform and project the rich cultural heritage of the state.
Earlier, the audience enjoyed the colourful cultural show featuring folk, regional music and dance depicting the glimpses of rich cultural heritage of the state.
Pertinently, the department organized series of cultural events during the week long Independence Day celebrations like Photo Exhibition cum Cultural event, Sham-e-Gazal, Children Film Shows etc.
