CUK’s conference on Tourism concludes at Leh | | Leh, September 10, (Scoop News)-The two-day International Conference on Tourism organised by the Department of Tourism Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) and sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India concluded at Leh on 9th of September, 2017. Mr. Nawang Rigzen Jora, MLA Leh, was the chief guest at the valedictory function. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Jora discussed various strategies that can be adopted by the Jammu and Kashmir Government to help tourism flourish in all the three regions of the State. He complimented the organisers for successfully holding the international conference and conveyed hope of having such events organised at Leh in future as well. The function was also attended by Ms. Minni Prasanna (ISS), Director Marketing Research, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, who was also the guest of honour. She briefed the participants about the working of the Ministry of Tourism and the central funding opportunities for the institutes. Prof. Geshe Konchok Rigzen, Director CIBS, who was also the guest of honour spoke on his diverse experiences and the cultural importance of Ladakh from tourism perspective. He hailed the leadership of Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir, Vice-Chancellor, CUK for taking the decision of conducting the conference at CIBS, Leh. Around 146 delegates and resource persons from all over the country and abroad attended the conference. The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Shahnaz Akhtar, Assistant professor, DTS, CUK.
