Team Jammu appeals people to celebrate Maharaja's birthday with fervour
asks authorities to declare Sept 23 as an official holiday.

Jammu, September 13, (Scoop News)-Announcing grand celebrations on birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, which falls on September 23, Team Jammu today also warned a massive agitation if the Government does not declare the day as State holiday.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Team Jammu, Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal said that the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh would be celebrated in a big way, across Jammu region, by organizing functions and distributing sweets. “Team Jammu will hold gatherings and distribute sweets/halwa at village level in entire Jammu division to mark the occasion,” he said.
The Team Jammu chairman also appealed all Jammuities, irrespective of caste and religion, to celebrate the Maharaja’s birthday by distributing sweets in markets and by particularly preparing ‘Halwa’ at their homes.
While making a fervent appeal to all community heads as well as business community including different heads of Bazar associations as well as the working class to make the day a mega event by celebrating Maharaja’s birthday to give a strong message to the political class that entire Jammu division is one on the issue and is ready for mass movement if September 23 is not declared as State holiday.
Reiterating that September 23 should be declared as state holiday, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal warned series of agitational programmes if the government does not concede this demand. “If government failed to fulfil its commitment over the issue, Team Jammu will gherao ministers of this coalition government and all the Jammu based MLAs including that of opposition who are adopting a criminal silence towards peoples’ aspirations for state holiday on the Maharaja’s birthday”, he said.
“The gherao of ministers and MLAs will continue till the government announces state holiday on September 23 and we will also gherao civil secretariat on opening of Darbar here as well as the legislative assembly”, he added.
On the occasion, the Team Jammu chairman also did not forget to compliment the Members of Legislative Council (MLCs) who took initiative and got a resolution passed for declaring state holiday on Maharaja’s birth anniversary. He lamented that despite passage of this historic resolution by Legislative Council on January 24, the state government and legislative assembly did not take up the matter to fulfill aspirations of the people of Jammu. “Our patience is running out. We will not tolerate any further delay in recognizing services of visionary Maharaja of erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
Among others who also spoke on the occasion included Rajesh Kapoor, Anupam Sambyal, Rahul Sambyal (Samba), Adishvar Mahajan (Rajouri), Rajesh Rinku (Chenani), Narinder Sharma (R S Pura), Avinash Chowdhary (Vijaypur), Vijay Proch (Katra), Er Chandan Dutta, Sunil Singh Raipuria.
