Farooq Shah reviews educational scenario in Pulwama
400 ATBs distributed among meritorious students
Pulwama, September 13, (Scoop News)- Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmad Shah today convened a meeting of Education Department Pulwama to review the progress on various projects under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA).
District Development Commissioner Pulwama, G. M. Dar, Director School Education Kashmir, Project Director, SSA, Director RMSA, CEO, ZEOs, Principals and Head Masters of all the educational institutes of the district and other concerned attended the meeting.
CEO Pulwama informed the meeting about the functioning of the education sector in the district. He said that there are 70 high schools, 30 higher secondary schools, 4 colleges and 01 DIET centre. It was given out that out of 328 approved buildings for Primary Schools under SSA around 322 have been completed.
Regarding middle schools out of 73 buildings, as many as 72 have been completed. Under RMSA out of total 18 approved buildings, 10 have been completed while 4 are under construction.
The Secretary School Education said that government has prioritized education as prime focus with the launch of numerous reformative measures in this regard. “A discernible transformation is being witnessed in all parameters of education with a notable development in infrastructural edifice and related facilities in educational institutions of the state,” he said. He emphasized upon the need of involving all stakeholders including Village Level Education Committees, parents, teachers and officers of civil administration in further streamlining of this vital sector on which the onus of building a strong and developed nation lies.
Farooq Shah also stressed on time bound completion of the vital projects and asked the officers to work with added zeal and in coordination to change the educational scenario of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, Director School Education exhorted upon the concerned officers to ensure that all these centres of learning are equipped with enhanced basic facilities. He stressed upon the importance of regular and effective monitoring of functioning of the schools especially in rural and hilly areas for better outcome and asked the CEO and ZEOS to regularly monitor their functioning.
The DDC Pulwama said that the present dispensation is making concerted efforts to perk up the education system in the State. He stressed on the teaching community to redouble their efforts so as to help produce students who become assets for the State. He said the education sector is the most important and priority sector for developing and grooming the future generation of the State. He also asked the officers to ensure judicious and optimal use of the available resources in the said sector to provide the proper feasible academic atmosphere to the students.
Later, Secretary School Education held an interactive session with students during RU-BA-RU event. The students put forward their questions regarding issues like shortage of teachers; need to introduce more subjects, improvement in infrastructure, and establishment of counselling cells.
He impressed upon teaching staff of educational institutions and ZEOs to improve results in annual examination. He also announced that dedicated teachers will be awarded cash prize along with citations.
He also distributed prizes among the students who had participated in science quiz competition organized by the Department.
Earlier, Director School Education and DDC Pulwama flagged off a rally of students who were given All Terrain Bikes (ATBs for meritorious boys of lower economic strata on the pattern of Scooty Scheme for the girl students. Around 400 ATBs were distributed among the meritorious students.
