14th National Youth Parliament organized at JU

Jammu ,September 18, (Scoop News)-The Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu today organized 14th National Youth Parliament Programme at Gen. Zorawar Singh Auditorium. The programme was conducted under the aegis of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Govt. of India to strengthen the roots of democracy, to inculcate the habit of discipline and to enable the student community to understand the working of our parliamentary institutions. Sh. Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha was the Chief Guest and Jury Member. Prof. Javed Musarrat, Vice-Chancellor Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University Rajouri was the Academician of repute and Jury Member and Dr. Mayank Pratap from Banaras Hindu University was the Group Coordinator and Dr. Vijay Saigal, Dept. of Law, University of Jammu was the coordinator of 14th National Youth Parliament Competition 2017.

Sh. Shamsher Singh Manhas, MP appreciated the participants for their content and articulation as their confidence was reflecting the hard work they have put in to make this event successful. He further gave inputs to participants to make this sitting as real and as meaningful as possible. , He was glad to witness the maximum participation of girl students and expected them to work hard to make it to parliament in Delhi in future.

Prof Javed Musarrat appreciated the remarkable performance by the students of the University of Jammu. He stressed on the importance of conducting such programmes at University level which play a vital role in Nation building.

Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu complemented the students and the coordinators for such a brilliant performance. He insisted on the inclusion of values in the education system which enables them to accept the difference of opinion with a receptive brain.

Dr. Mayank Pratap remarked that this is the most organized and discipline Youth Parliament Sitting by the students he has witnessed over the years. He praised the topics selected in discussion in the youth parliament.

Different proceedings of the parliament like Oath taking, Obituary Reference, Introduction of New Ministers, Question Hour, Breach of Privilege, Papers laid, Message from Upper Chamber, Welcoming Foreign Delegates, Calling Attention Motion and Legislative Business were very effectively presented by the students of different departments of the University of Jammu within 55 minutes.

Earlier in her welcome address, Prof. Satnam Kour, Dean Students welfare apprised about the idea behind conducting such programmes. She informed that the Department of Students Welfare is always enthusiastic wherever welfare of the students and positive channelizing of their energies is concerned. Dr. Vijay Saigal explained in detail the idea behind organizing youth parliament programme throughout the country.

Prof. S.K. Pandita, Chairman Campus Cultural Committee presented the formal vote of thanks. Oshin Bakshi, Abhishek Kohli, Ankita Chopra, Romika Thakur, Aarti Devi and Akushi Gupta were selected for the Best Speakers awards. The event was conducted by Shivika Thakur and Payal Sharma. The hall management was looked after by Manreet Kour, Anjali Sharma, Kanika Sharma, Honeyka Gupta and Megavika. The programme was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.

The students who participated in the Youth Parliament competition included Ankita chopra, Neeraj Singh Jasrotia, Nitika Singh, Oshin Bakshi, Akushi Gupta, Romika Thakur, Neeti Salgotra, Abhishek Kohli, Parul Sharma, Arti Devi, Akshay Kumar, Sheikh Tanzeel Illahi, Nikhik Verma, Yogeshwar Singh, Syam Kumar, Jattan Singh Gill, Mudit Mahajan, Vishali Dhawan, Aman Sharma, Divya Rajput, Ankita bhatt, Shikha Jamwal, sehar Chowdhary, Varnika Gupta, Megha Rani, Farhana sheikh, Mehak Sharma, Zainib Gazala Sheikh, Shazia Naik, Minal Jain, Urvashi Vaid, Mohd. Hasanaian, Rimsha Suri, Aashna Gupta, Vishnu Dutta, Shivam Singh, Bhumanyu Jamwal, Vikramjit Singh Manhas, Vishal Sharma, Tarun Singh, Misbah Atiq, Nikhaer Jandyal, Harsh Sharma, Vishal Kotwal, Chanderkant, Vikas Badhoria, Nitan Sharma, Abhinandan Sharma, Arsh vardhak katoch, Versha anthal, Ruby, Shaphali Bhagat, Sudershan Sharma, siddharth Jamwal, Shubika Sharma, Abhinandan Salgotra, Dheeraj, Kulbushan Sharma, Sanchit Gupta, Balpreet Kour. The event was witnessed by faculty members, members of Campus Cultural Committee, staff and students of the University of Jammu.
