Govt initiatives to further improve health facilities across JK: Bali Bhagat
Hails centre for sanctioning Ayurvedic College for Jammu

Jammu, September 18, (Scoop News)-Emphasizing on providing better medical facilities to the people, Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat today said that the Government has taken up several initiatives to further improve the health facilities across the State.
Health is the prime concern of everyone and the Government will continue to make efforts to strengthen this sector, he added.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized by the residents of Raipur-Domana constituency today to felicitate the Minister for his vigorous efforts for the revival of Government Ayurvedic College at Jammu after four decades.
The residents congratulated the Minister for his persistent efforts to get the much needed traditional health and medicare institution sanctioned for Jammu by the Central Government.
Dedicating the Ayurvedic College to the people of Jammu, the Minister said that it was a long pending demand of the region which has been fulfilled.
He said that with the revival of the College, the aspirants of BAMS from all over the state will be benefited as they need not to go outside the State for pursuing their degrees.
Describing the decision of the Central Government for sanctioning Ayurvedic College as historic, Bhagat said that the opening of the college will restore lost glory of the Ayurvedic healthcare in the region.
He said that arduous efforts were made to achieve this goal. He also hailed the Union Government for sanctioning the establishment of this College at Jammu.
He said immediately after taking the reign of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the process for the establishment of this much needed institution was set in motion.
The Minister informed that all important issues pertaining to arrangements of faculty, selection of candidates and infrastructural facilities were streamlined for the revival of the Aurvedic College.
He said that that the 1st Batch for BAMS course in the college will start from the current session. He further said that the State Government has already taken up the issue of selection of 50 eligible candidates for the course with the Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) authorities.
Pertinently, the Government Ayurvedic College in Jammu, the only such institute in the state, was established in 1962 and now going to be revived after four decades.
Later, the Minister interacted with the medical team coming for 3-day medical camp to be organized in Raipur-Domana constituency. The team comprises doctors and medical students from Bihar, Gujarat, Banaras and other parts of the country.
