6-day Football tournament concludes in Kathua
Steps underway for promotion of sports activities in JK: Lal Singh
Kathua, October 20, (Scoop News)-Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment, Choudhary Lal Singh today said that Government is committed to create adequate infrastructure for promotion of sports.
Government’s quest is to upgrade all stadiums on modern lines and hold mega sports events to bring out the talent, he said at the concluding function of 6-day football tournament organized by Delhi Public School (DPS) here at Rajbagh.
He appreciated Youth Services and Sports department and Sports Council for proposing football clubs in every nook and corner of the State. He asked the twin sports bodies to work in same spirit and take steps to revive hockey in the State. "The government is trying every bit to create world class sports facilities for the local talent to flourish. Our youth has already proved their mettle in the recent sports events at national and international levels," Singh said.
He said that participation of J&K youth in national and international events reflects that Jammu and Kashmir State has vast sports talent which can earn a good name in the world of games.
Choudhary Lal Singh urged upon the youth to focus on their goals and put in dedicated efforts to compete and excel at national and international levels. He asked them to channelize their energies in positive direction and create a niche for themselves in the sports of their interest. He said that more and more football and hockey tournaments should be organized with an aim is to promote the spirit of nationalism and the sport activities in the state.
