Attempts being made to rope in separatists for talks,
services of two lawmakers being reportedly sought to motivate estranged leaders


Jammu, November 12, (Scoop News)-At the end of his five days visit of beleaguered Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre’s Special Representative, Dineshwar Sharma, is hopeful of engaging in talks with the separatist leaders in resolving vexed Kashmir issue.


Unconfirmed buzz suggests that the services of two sitting lawmakers are being sought to motivate the separatist leaders to come forward for negotiations with New Delhi’s Point man during his visits to the state in future to fathom out their conviction.


Reports also indicate that Kashmiri separatist troika had earlier made up their mind to give yet another chance for holding of negotiations with New Delhi besides bringing Pakistan on board but for the notice issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Yaseen Malik, made them to backtrack and spurn proposed talks.


Nearly 80 delegations had called on Mr. Sharma during his weeklong visit of the state which has yielded mixed bag of results with separatist leaders, major trade bodies and influential mainstream politicians staying away from him while hitherto unknown groups having turned up for the talks.


Some of the delegation members said the Special Representative told them that all three regions of state, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh will be treated equally and that he already had inputs a


Asserting that he would keep coming to Jammu and Kashmir and find some solution, centre’s representative is reported to have dropped enough hints that there was nothing wrong in engaging with the Hurriyat Conference or other separatists saying that he wants take view point of each and everyone to find out the solution to the imbroglio.


In Jammu, the state’s winter capital, Sharma also met Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti besides eliciting views on security situation on Jammu and Kashmir from chief secretary BB Vyas and director general of police, Dr SP Vaid.


People’s general refrain is that terms of reference for the initiative of these negotiations have not been defined and people do not know about the objective of his (Mr. Sharma;’s) visit....
