NSS Campus Units, JU University conducts dental check-up camp for visually impaired children
Jammu, November 14, (Scoop News)-To mark Children’s Day- 2017, National Service Scheme (NSS) Campus Units, University of Jammu in association with doctors of University Health Centre, conducted a health and dental check –up camp for the visually impaired students at LBM Girls School which is managed by an NGO and Boys Blind School run by Dept of Social Welfare, Govt. of J&K, Roop Nagar, Jammu. More than 60 students were examined and given oral health instructions by the expert team of doctors. Free Colgate toothpastes and toothbrushes were also distributed amongst them.
Dr.Gautam Sharma, Dental Surgeon and Ex-President Indian Dental Association (IDA) along with Dr.Bharat Bhushan, Medical Officer, JU, Dr. Vasudha Kak from Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College (IGGDC), Dr.Piyush Pargal and Dr.Paaras Kotwal Institute of Dental Sciences (IDS), Sehora, conducted this check-up camp.
Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman NSS said that NSS team would visit these schools regularly to have a closer interaction between the University and students of both these schools, so that the expertise of the university can be extended for the holistic development of these differently abled children. Dr.Samridhi Arora, Dr.Sarika Manhas, Dr.Hema Gandotra, Dr.Anju Thappa, Dr.Suresh Rao and senior NSS volunteers coordinated the programme.
This health and dental check –up camp was an extension activity of the University of Jammu under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan launched by MHRD, Govt. of India.
