Leh schools dedicate Children’s Day to Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche
Dorjay exhorts students to follow Bakula’s teachings for enlightened future
Leh, November 14, (Scoop News)-The united forum of all private schools of Leh district today celebrated Children’s Day, a first of its kind event dedicated to Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche commemorating his birth centenary at Nawang Dorjey Stobdan Memorial Ground Leh today.
Minister for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Chering Dorjay, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo, MLA Leh Nawang Rigzin Jora and EC Education Dorjey Motup, Councilor Upper Leh Ven Lobzang Nyantak, District Officers, religious heads, teachers, students and locals participated in the event.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that Bakula Rinpoche was the pioneer in developing politics, education and modern Ladakh. “The most important thing that Bakula Rinpoche taught the Ladakhis was to become a true nationalist with full respect for the national flag”, said Dorjay.
The Minister added that it’s a great opportunity for the students to know about the contribution and principles of Bakula Rinpoche. He exhorted upon the students to follow the great teachings of this religious leader to lead an enlightened and awakened life.
Dr. Sonam Dawa Lonpo congratulated the united forum for celebrating children’s day in such a grand way besides dedicating it to Kushok Bakula Rinpoche which will certainly educate and inspire the students with the message of such an iconic leader.
Rigzin Jora also spoke about the contribution and the greatness of Kushok Bakula Rinpoche calling him as the architect of Modern Ladakh. He said that today is the era of knowledge explosion and credited Bakula Rinpoche for the kind of development Ladakh has achieved so far. He also emphasised on maintaining peace and harmony in Ladakh as guided by Rinpoche.
Padmashree Morup Namgial urged upon the students to concentrate on their academics besides enthusing in themselves high ethos enshrined in our culture and tradition.
EC Education, Principal Lamdon Model Sr. Sec School Leh and Principal Imamia School, Chuchot also spoke on the occasion.
A scintillating cultural programme was presented by the teachers of different government schools on the occasion.
The Minister presented mementoes to principals of all the private schools on behalf of the organising committee of Bakula Rinpoche birth centenary celebration.
