EC reviews arrangements for Kargil-Ladakh Tourism Festival 2017

Kargil, November 16, (Scoop News)-Executive Councilor for Education, PDD, PHE and Revenue Advocate Muhammad Amir today emphasized that there is urgent need to use Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festival as a platform to promote tourism activities in the district.
The EC stated this while chairing a meeting convened to review the arrangements for annual Kargil Ladakh Tourism Festival-2017 being held at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Kargil on 21st and 22nd of November 2017.
The EC stressed on making the series of events proposed to be held during the two-day festival a real attraction for the tourists. He stressed on engaging renowned local artists, archery and polo players for cultural events which will feature folk dance, music and other art forms of the district.
Meanwhile threadbare discussions were held on arrangements to be put in place by the concerned departments for the annual festival. Issues related to boarding and lodging and transportation of the participating artists, polo and archery players besides several other issues also came up for discussion.
The EC impressed upon the concerned to take requisite steps to ensure all arrangements well in time so that the festival would be organized in the best possible manner.
The meeting was informed that the Department of Tourism has already taken requisite steps for promotion of the 2-day event and a good number of tourists from different parts of the country and abroad are likely to witness the cultural and traditional extravaganza. It was given out that during the festival days traditional archery and polo matches would also be featured besides presentation of various cultural programmes and display of local art and craft.
Underlining the importance of the festival as an apt platform to highlight the culture and heritage of the district, the EC exhorted upon the officers to put in all efforts to attract tourists to the area in the best possible manner.
Assistant Director Tourism Aga Syed Toha, officers of the arrangement committee besides the representatives of the cultural troupes, polo teams as well as archery teams were present in the meeting.
