Three weeks refresher course in education inaugurated at JU
Jammu, November 20, (Scoop News)-Three weeks Refresher Course in Education being organized by the Human Resource Development Centre, University of Jammu in collaboration with the Department of Education was inaugurated here this afternoon by Prof. R. D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
In his inaugural address, Prof. Sharma stressed on the importance of this course for the teachers and said that such events, conferences, workshops etc provide the best platform to the participants to share their knowledge and to get the feel of their teaching pedagogy.
He further asked the participating teachers to take advantage of the courses aimed at equipping the teachers with the latest developments taking place in the educational system and sharing the same with the students so as to provide the latest and quality education to them by adopting better teaching practices. He stressed on making the teaching a participatory process by involving students for their proper understanding.
He called upon the educators to be the researchers in their own area and stressed on strengthening the profession by generating the knowledge. Prof. Sharma emphasized upon the teachers for writing research papers and getting them published in the reputed journals and also asked them to work collectively so as to strengthen the process of Research Methodology.
He underscored the need for maintaining effective programmes with special stress on improving teaching and learning and also asked the participating teachers to be practical in handling their responsibilities be it in updating the Quality and relevant curriculum, admitting students to a particular course or assessment evaluation.
Prof. J. P. Singh Joorel, Director, Human Resource Development Centre (HRDC), University of Jammu highlighted the importance of the Refresher Course and said that such type of academic interactions are very important for the teachers as they provide them with the opportunity of interacting with the people who have done excellent work in their areas.
Earlier in her welcome address, Prof Renu Nanda, Head, Department of Education and Course Coordinator of the Workshop also spoke on the occasion and gave the brief highlights of the courses to be taken up during the three weeks.
Sh. Ranjit Kalra, Asst. Director, ASC presented formal vote of thanks.
Around 31 teachers from various colleges of the state are participating in the three weeks refresher course. Prof. Mubarak Singh and Prof. Rajiv Rattan were also present on the occasion.
