Zulfkar attends first alumni meet Of GHSS Boys Rajouri
Lauds schools for producing eminent personalities; sanctions Rs 20 lakh for school development
Rajouri, November 20, (Scoop News)-Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Tribal affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today said that the school education plays a vital role in individual’s life in and provides a way for them to excel in their life.
The Minister was speaking during the first alumni meet of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Rajouri.
Choudhary Zulfkar Ali sharing his observations regarding growth of schools said that this government institution has emerged as a choice school for students due to its excellent education record. Given paucity of alternate institutions in the area and the limited affordability, this government institution has produced eminent doctors, engineers, administrators, scientists, leaders in the society, he added.
Calling upon district administration and education department to initiate measures to upgrade the school, the Minister asked the District Development Commissioner and principal of the school to collectively draft a detailed development plan, reflecting areas of improvement, requirements, augmentation so that adequate funds can be provided; he also assured all possible support from the government.
The Minister also sanctioned Rs 20 lakhs, on the occasion, for establishment of Hall of fame to house and celebrate the memories of the famed alumni and their distinguished careers/contributions which will also be a source of inspiration for generations to come.
DDC Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary while speaking on the occasion said the school has had an immense contribution in changing the lives of many, in changing the way people of this border district perceived education, careers and growth. He called upon alumni and district officers to contribute their bit for growth and development of the institution in terms of education, ideas and infrastructural requirements.
Eminent alumni like MLC Vibodh Gupta, former MP and Minister Chowdhary Talib Hussain, DDC Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Nisar Rahi, Iqbal Shawl, Shafi Dar, Subhash Sharma, Ghulam Nabi Shabaz, Rajinder Gupta, Rakesh Gupta, Ram Prakash Sharma and Mohd Farooq Lone also spoke on the occasion and recalled the contribution of school in shaping their carrier and thousands of other students.
The reunion saw participation of over 200 alumni getting together to celebrate the fond memories of their Alma mater.
Earlier, Principal of School Abdul Rauf Dar shared the contributions of the school and requested for intervention for early redressal of the issues faced by the school.
On the occasion an impressive and scintillating cultural programme was organized by the department of Information in which renowned artists enthralled audience with sufi songs, saif malook and gojri and pahari songs.
Students of the school who excelled in Kabaddi Competition at National Level were also felicitated in the function.
