Speaker, PUC members inspect upcoming Cable Car Project Jammu
Jammu,November 21, (Scoop News)- The Committee on Public Undertaking of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly under the Chairmanship of MLA, Satpaul Sharma today inspected the pace of work on Cable Car project from Mubarak Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu.
Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta also accompanied the Committee members during the visit.
Legislators, G M Saroori, Rajesh Gupta, Abdul Majid Larmi, Rajeev Sharma and Vikram Randhawa also accompanied the Committee during their visit to the project sites.
During the visit, the Committee inspected all three sites of construction work including Bahu Fort, Mahamaya Temple and Peerkho and impressed upon the concerned officers to expedite the works.
Managing Director Cable Car Corporation Limited, ShabirWani informed the Committee about the status of ongoing works and said that almost 70 percent work on the project has been completed and rest of the work would be completed by March, 2018 with an estimate cost of Rs 75 crore.
Chairman while asking the concerned agency to put in sincere efforts in the timely completion of the project said that this prestigious project would help in making this tourist destination more attractive besides benefitting the people related with the tourism industry.
He said with this project, people visiting Vaishno Mata shrine would be attracted to visit Jammu city.
Speaking on the occasion, Kavinder Gupta said that with the completion of this project, the long pending demand of the people of Jammu will be fulfilled and hoped that it will help in boosting the tourism sector in Jammu.
He also stressed upon the concerned officers to adopt a mechanism to protect the environment safeguards during and after the completion of the projects. He said that all ongoing work on all key projects of Jammu should be completed within the set time frame.
Secretary Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, Vice President JKSCCL, Bari Andrabi and other concerned senior officers were also present on the occasion.
Earlier, Chairman of the Committee also chaired a meeting with the senior officers of J&K State Finance Corporation (JKSFC) to discuss the CAGs Audit Paras pertaining to the corporation.
While deliberating on the Audit Paras pertaining to the JKSFC regarding one-time settlement of 29 cases without affecting any recovery from the defaulters, the Committee expressed its deep concern for casual approach of the Finance Department as Administrative Department of State Finance Corporation.
By way of sending the reply without approval of the Commissioner Secretary and office of the Accountant General, the Committee asked the concerned Managing Director to Come up with the approved reply of Commissioner Secretary Finance Department and also get a approval by the Accountant General in next meeting.
Managing Director, however while briefing the Committee informed that the settlement process does not need approval of the government but it is approved by the Board of Directors.
Accountant General, AG Office, S Chatterjee, Managing Director JKSFC, Mohammad Farooq, General Manager JKSFC, N A Bhat, Manager JKSFC, Jagat Ram, besides senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
