BRO increases surface connectivity in remote areas of region
builds 100 feet long portable steel bridge over mighty River Zanskar, replaces hanging wooden bridge

Neyraqs(Ladakh), November 22, (Scoop News)-A 100 feet long portable steel bridge has replaced centuries old single track wooden bridge over mighty Zanskar River and the herculean task was accomplished by none other than the Border Roads Organization (BRO).

81 Road Construction Company of 762 Border Roads Task Force under Project Vinayak of BRO built this bridge in a remote area in adverse weather conditions.

Carrying of raw material and shifting of the parts of bridge was a tremendous challenge for the highly motivated team of engineers engaged for the job.

The completion of the bridge has brought smiles on the faces of the villagers who have finally got connected with rest of the region. The bridge has been built on the road which commences from Langro at NH 1 and traverses through Wangla, Fangila, Sumdo, Photoskar, Yalchang and will terminate at Neyraqs.

Another 90 feet long bridge, nearly one kilometer from Neyraqs along Nimmu-Padam and Darcha over Yalechung stream, was also opened for traffic over three weeks ago.

With the laying of the bridge and construction of this road, the natives of the village Neyraqs can now cover the distance in four hours in their vehicles to get connected with NH 1 which would otherwise take minimum 48 hours on foot earlier.

Another under construction road connecting Nimmu- Padam and Darcha will also cross this road over one kilometer ahead of this bridge. The construction of this road and bridge will further give boost to tourism and socio-economic development to the local people.

The entire team of Project Vinayak has made the almost impossible task possible under the stewardship of SK Doon, Chief Engineer, Colonel Rajeev Lohani. Commander 762 BRTF, Arnab Chakraborty, Officer Commanding 81 RCC, Manish Kumar OIC and Saji N, Sector in-charge....
