Prof Gupta seeks reservation for displaced Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs in state legislature




Jammu, December 5, (Scoop News)-Former Union Minister for Defence Production and Civil Aviation, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta, has sought reservation for minority displaced Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs in the state legislative assembly,

In a statement issued here on Monday, he said in the first elected government in 1950’s, the state was having three ministers from minority communities in the valley and they included Sham Lal Saraf, Durga Prasad Dhar and Professor Harbans Singh Azad besides Shiv Narayan Fotedar was the chairman of the legislative council.

Prof Gupta underlined the need for attention on the issue of return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri displaced community back in the valley.

He demanded at least six seats to be reserved for them and said there was need for political empowerment of these communities....
