Tassaduq likely to be initiated into state council of ministers
displeased Khanna asks his BJP ministers to be ready for reshuffle

Jammu, December 11, (Scoop News)-Confidants of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) signal that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, is likely to introduce younger brother, Tassaduq Hussain Mufti into her cabinet.

The move was discussed during the party meet held last week in Jammu, the winter capital of the Himalayan state, where Ms Mehboba was elected as party president six consecutive time, to further consolidate the party. Well informed sources said, Mehbooba Mufti, has already taken a decision after consultations with the party confidants.

Incidentally, during the party deliberations, a senior leader had been highly critical about the dismal performance of some of his party ministers and held them squarely responsible for the poor reflection of the party among the people.

Tassaduq was the party candidate for the postponed Anantnag parliamentary constituency. Anantnag constituency fell vacant after Mehbooba Mufti resigned from the parliament seat and got herself elected to the state legislative assembly from Anantnag assembly segment. Earlier, Mufti Mohammed Sayed was elected from the same seat in 2014 and represented it till his death on January 7, 2015.
According to party sources, Tassaduq will enter as a member of the Legislative Council (Upper House) in the state legislature and would be subsequently inducted as a minister. The sources further said that a party representative is likely to vacate his seat ahead of Tassaduq’s initiation into the Upper House.
Tassaduq is assisting his eldest sister, Mehbooba, as a coordinator of the Public Grievance Cell in the chief minister’s office and has also been touring extensively and meeting the people across the state. Of late, media reports suggest, he has been emphasising on environmental issues besides developmental works.

Meanwhile, senior leader of Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and In-charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs, Avinash Rai Khanna, has cautioned his party ministers to remain prepared for a re-jig. He was expressing his disappointment over poor performance of his party ministers in the state coalition government. Khanna indicated that reshuffle could take place anytime now.

Attending a party meet in Jammu, he conveyed his dismay and told them in plain terms that party high command was completely dissatisfied with their dismal performance. Without mincing the words, Khanna told them that they should keep themselves ready for vacating their seats as reshuffle within the party could take place any time hereafter.

He asked the ministers to improve their working and deliver but also remain in constant touch with their party cadres at the grassroots level and take them into confidence. Khanna warned them that party will have to pay a heavy price if there is disconnect between party leaders and its cadres. He advised them to work hand in hand for strengthening and consolidating the party in the region for which party workers must be taken .
