Locals asked to avoid avalanche prone areas in Gurez
DDC Bandipora reviews snow clearance measures, stock position of essentials
Bandipora,December 12, (Scoop News)- The Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Sajjad Hussain today issued weather advisory, in the aftermath of rains and snowfall in the district, which asked locals in Gurez and Tulail areas not to venture in avalanche prone areas till the weather conditions become favourable.
The DC also asked the SDM Gurez to take all precautionary measures in coordination with the concerned Departments for safeguard of the general public.




District Development Commissioner Bandipora, Sajjad Hussain today convened a meeting to review snow clearance measures in the district, besides stock and supply position of essential commodities.
The meeting discussed various issues with regard to snow clearance, power and water supply, medicare, transport and other facilities, besides took a comprehensive review of stock and supply position of food grains and other essential commodities.
On the occasion, it was informed that 13 snow clearance machines, including 6 in Gurez sub-division are presently available in the district for snow clearance operations.
It was also said that all the roads including Bandipora- Srinagar and Bandipora-Sopore are open and traffic on these roads is plying normally.
Reviewing the stock and supply position, the DDC was briefed that sufficient stock of essential commodities including rice and LPG is available in the district. The meeting was told that 9000 quintals of rice, 500 quintals of sugar and1800 cylinders of LPG are available in Bandipora and Sonawari areas, while as 20706 quintals of rice, 5325 quintals of atta, 1033 quintals of sugar, 1.36 lakh liter kerosene oil and 6500 LPG cylinders have already been dumped in Gurez sub-division which will cater the requirements of the area till June next.
The DDC also took stock of other essential services including Health and drinking water facilities. He impressed upon the officers to be proactive and ensure that every possible facility is provided to the masses. He also asked the district and sectoral officers to personally monitor the field functionaries so that the people don't face any inconvenience during winters.
