| Dr. Liaqat Jafri to represent JK in International Urdu Mushairas in Gulf | |
Jammu, January 10, (Scoop News)- Noted Urdu poet Dr. Liaqat Jafri to represent Jammu and Kashmir state in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia in international Urdu poetry festival being organized by Embassy of India in UAE and Karwan e Urdu Qatar. He will participate in series of International Urdu Mushairas to be held in Doha Qattar, Riyadh, Jaddah, Dammam, Jubail and Sharjah commencing on 12th to 24th January 2017.
Author of half a dozen books in Urdu Dr. Jafri is a reputed editor of three Urdu magazines published by J&K and New Delhi.
An acclaimed Urdu poet of modern sensibility and technique his stage performances are appreciated in across India.
Recipient of many national and state awards for his outstanding contributions in the field of poetry, prose, theatre, film and Urdu activism, Liaqat is a noted critic as well.
He remained convener of state-level Committee for the promotion of Urdu Language in J&K for more than 5 years which was constituted by Government of Jammu and Kashmir in 2011-12.
Presently, Liaqat is working HOD Urdu in Higher Education Department, in J&K Government.
Popular in social media networking sites Dr. Liaqat has participated in more than 100 All India Urdu Mushairas held in different state of India.
His contributions have been widely recognized in Urdu literary field beside he is presently associated with Bollywood and is writing lyrics for a number of upcoming film projects of reputed banners of India.
