Why Jai Chands of Jammu are silent on amnesty to ‘agitational terrorists’ of Valley? Asks Team Jammu

Jammu, January 11, (Scoop News)- Expressing his anguish over discriminatory policies being adopted by the incumbent coalition regime, Team Jammu today regretted that state government has announced amnesty for all those youth have been involved in ‘agitational terrorism’ since 1996 but no such policy has been announced for Jammu youth against whom cases have been registered during 2008 Amarnath land row.
Team Jammu observed that amnesty scheme for ‘agitational terrorists’ would encourage anti-national elements active in the Valley. Team Jammu reminded that top Army officers have repeatedly mentioned that those involved in stone pelting in Kashmir Valley were part of agitational terrorism.
In a statement issued here today chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal today took BJP leadership to task for endorsing such discriminatory amnesty schemes announced by the state government from time to time. “BJP leaders, who have earned the credential as ‘Jai Chands’ of Jammu, should learn a lesson from Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti how to protect own people”, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said and nearly 300 youth from different parts of Jammu region are facing charges, falsely framed against them during 2008 Amarnath land agitation but no action has been taken by the coalition regime to give amnesty to those youth also.
“Coalition government is adopting different yardsticks for different regions. While in Kashmir Valley, ‘agitational terrorists’ were given amnesty by the government but in Jammu region youth -who were falsely implicated in different cases during an agitation, are still facing charges”, Mr Zorawar Singh Jamwal said and warned that Team Jammu would not tolerate this discrimination.
While speaking on Governor’s Address in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, Mehbooba had announced grant of amnesty to youth involved in various cases during 2016 unrest, which had spread after the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen divisional commander Burhan Wani.
Asserting that she had directed for withdrawal of cases against 4327 youth recently and constituted a Committee to review cases against youths registered during 2016 unrest, Mehbooba announced that the Government has decided to grant amnesty to them (youth of 2016 unrest against whom cases have been registered). With this, roughly, 9000 youths will get amnesty; she had started countering the Kashmir centric move, Zorawar Singh Jamwal warned that such anti national decisions will not be tolerated by Jammu Youth and asked BJP leadership to break its criminal silence over the sensitive issue.
