| A lone female contestant, Dr Nizami to compete in snow autocross ‘Frozen 2’ at Gulmarg on Jan 20th | | receives full support of her family |
Srinagar, January 17, (Scoop News)-Dr Sharmeen Mushtaq Nizami (40) has announced to participate in country’s only snow autocross ‘Frozen 2’ to be held on January 20 at Gulmarg and would thus become Jammu and Kashmir’s first female snow race driver.
55 kilometre from Srinagar, Gulmarg (2,650 M), has been selected for holding of the event.
“This season the Kashmir motorsport will have a female participant as a snow race driver,” informed sources said adding “this year it will be different from previous edition. The sport is no longer a male dominated now.”
“I am thrilled to be part of this event. I want to be a source of inspiration for those who want to make a difference and overcome their impediments in life,” Dr Nizami, who is a doctor by profession, told a local news channel.
Dr Nizami, a mother of two, she said her children do support her and are happy to see her participating in the event. “I like driving and getting behind the wheels is quite electrifying. I have got full support of my entire family and this is what I wanted to do,” she told the channel.
She said she has been driving for past two decades and participating in the race will be like a long cherished dream coming true. Originally belonging to Banihal area of Jammu region, Dr Nizami is settled in Srinagar at present where she works as a full time doctor in a government run hospital near Khanyar in downtown area of capital city, Srinagar. ... |
