Pak firing: People suffer due to Governments’ apathy, hollow promises: Bhardwaj

Arnia,January 18, (Scoop News)- Senior Congress leader Mr Mohinder Bhardwaj has expressed anguish on the plight of people living in borders area around this area in view of the unprovoked firing resorted to by Pakistan last night. While people continue to suffer the Governments, both Centre and state of which BJP is a significant part, continue to look the other way.
Speaking to the people affected by Pakistan firing during a tour of Arnia town, Treva, Pindi Camp and other villages of the area today, Mr Bhardwaj lambasted the BJP leaders for practically doing nothing to ensure safety and security of people in border areas. Lambasting them for merely holding out false promises and doing only lip service to the people in this regard, he said it is ironic that the BJP Governments and their elected representatives have suddenly woken up to the need of constructing bunkers for civilian population living in border villages for safety during Pak-firing.
“ How come that the Centre and the area MP have after being in power for four years in Delhi and three years in Jammu and Kashmir suddenly claiming that sanction worth Rs 414 crore has been accorded for construction of bunkers. People have been repeatedly hearing such announcements ever since the BJP governments came to power but nothing has happened till date on ground. The MP’s announcement once again exposes the lies which he and his party Governments are used to speak to people,” he strongly observed.
Mr Bhardwaj said that the latest reiteration on sanctioning of money for constructing bunkers has nothing to do with people’s safety and security as it would never materialise as has been the case during the last four years. The fact of the matter is that the fresh announcement in this connection has been made in view of the coming Panchayat and Civic body elections as the BJP has to face people living in the long border stretch and adjoining towns and villages.
“ As usual the party and its leaders are more worried about the vote-bank than ensuring safety, security and welfare of the people under stress and duress due to border firing,” he observed adding: “ Learn to grow beyond politics of vote bank. The same people who have brought BJP to power are all set to punish them for holding out false promises and doing little on the ground.”
Referring to the plight of people after last night’s firing, Mr Bhardwaj asked the state government and local administration to take up immediate relief measures. “Act immediately or be prepared to be consumed by people’s anger,” he warned.
“Where are the much promised safety bunkers, where is the promise to provide five marla plots to people of border villages in safe zones and what has happened to the promise to provide emergency health care and safe education facilities to these people,” he further asked.
The fact of the matter is that the BJP, its participated governments and its MPs and MLAs have thoroughly exposed due to their incompetence with their focus only on filling their own pockets, he said. He demanded immediate payment of compension to the family of the deceased at village Pindi and proper and adequate medical facilities to the injured who are undergoing treatment in Govt. Medical College, Jammu. He also demanded that the compensation should be paid by the Govt. to those whose cattle have died and injured in the firing. People of the border area should be compensated for the losses suffered by them to their property. Mr. Bhardwaj also inquired about the condition of the injured in the morning and requested the medical staff on duty to provide best care to the injured.
During the tour Mr. Bhardwaj was accompanied by Capt. Wazir Singh, Dr. Nagar Mal Choudhary, Attar Singh, Jung Bahadur, Avinash Sharma and many other persons of the area.
