Workshop on `online filing of GST organised by PG department of commerce at JU



Jammu, January 18, (Scoop News)- The P.G. Department of Commerce (SAP-DRS III), University of Jammu, organized One Day workshop on ‘Online Filing of Goods and Services Tax’ today in the Seminar Hall of Department of Commerce. C.A. Vineet Kohli enlightened the students with the basic regulations of GST and highlighted the anomalies of earlier existing laws namely, cascading effect, tax evasion, anti-profiteering etc. While emphasizing on GST and its prevalent rates, he also compared the GST schemes with other indirect taxes. In his first two sessions, he explained the concept and relevance of GST, supply, procedure of GST including CGST, SGST, IGST, filling of returns, various sections, conditions & provisions for input credit, export, import and inter-state movement of goods & services. Further, composite scheme under GST was also discussed in detail including opt in and opt out options. In the next subsequent two sessions, practical experience of using the GST portal www.gst.gov.in was provided which included step by step filing of returns in GST. He also encouraged the students to provide GST filing services without any professional certification which will provide them handsome earning while learning.

Earlier, welcome address was presented by Prof. Neetu Andotra, Head and Coordinator SAP, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu who deliberated on the increasing job potentials available to commerce students through online filing of GST returns.
A total of 137 participants including research scholars and students enrolled in Ph. D, M.Phil, M. Com II and IV Semester, PGDBRM, PGDMSM and PGDAF attended the event along with the faculty members Prof. Gurjeet Kaur, Dr. Jeevan Jyoti, Dr. Tarsem Lal and Mr. Sunil Kumar. Dr. Harleen Kaur, Workshop Coordinator, delivered concluding remarks and vote of thanks. Mr.Sandeep Patyal and Dr. Vaishali acted as Rapporteur.
