| Dir Tourism reviews arrangements for TAAI Convention | | Over 500 leading travel agents to participate | Srinagar, February 12, (Scoop News)- Director Tourism Kashmir Mahmood A Shah on Monday reviewed the arrangements for 3-day 64th Convention of Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) to be held in Srinagar from 27th to 30th March, 2018.
While chairing the meeting, Director Tourism Kashmir urged the TAAI J&K Chapter members to make all necessary arrangements for smooth conduct of the convention which is being held in the State after a gap of 30 years.
TAAI –JK Chapter Chairman Zahoor Qari besides its officer bearers and state members attended the meeting to chalk out the plans for conduct of the Convention.
Director informed that more than 500 travel agents from across India have confirmed their participation for the Convention which will give major fillip to the tourism sector.
On the occasion, Director Tourism urged upon the TAAI JK Chapter to form separate committees to ensure every arrangement is made for the Convention in time. He said holding of TAAI convention in Srinagar will send a positive signal across the globe about situation in Kashmir.
“TAAI members are leading travel agents in India who can market our state in a big way. We will ensure that TAAI convention is held successfully and the members leave Kashmir with beautiful memories,” said the Director.
Pertinently, Department of tourism is also organising pre and post convention tours for the participants of the Convention during which they will be taken to different parts of the city and the premier resorts like Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
Local travel agents, hoteliers and houseboat owners have appreciated the move and pledged their support for the Convention.
Earlier, the Director held several meetings with the TAAI national President Sunil Kumar to finalise the Convention in the State.
TAAI holds its conventions outside country and it is after many years that the body is holding its convention in India and has chosen Kashmir to the event.
Earlier, TAAI Conventions were held in Abu Dhabi, UAE in 2016, Bali, Indonesia in 2015, Bengaluru, India in 2013, Istanbul, Turkey in 2012, Phuket, Thailand in 2010, Dubai, UAE in 2009, London, UK in 2007.
