5 killed,7 injured in Pakistani shelling in Poonch Sector
Unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pak in Balakote sector targeting innocent civilians


Jammu, March 18, (Scoop News)- Five people of one family were killed and seven others injured in heavy shelling by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district ,reports said.
Reports further said the ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Bimber Gali started around 0745 hours.
“They are specifically targeting civilian areas,” reports said.
Meanwhile defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said that Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing from 0745h to 1130h along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote sector using small arms, 81mm and 120mm mortars.

Spokesperson said,Pakistan continues in its cowardly design of targeting innocent civilians, their homes and livestock in villages close to the Line of Control. It is a serious issue of concern as Pakistan targeting innocent civilians in localities much deep inside Indian territory almost 3-4 Km from LoC, where there is no Army deployment or any related installation & even no equipment. The deliberate provocation has resulted in loss of five precious and innocent civilian lives.


He said that Indian Army has retaliated strongly, effectively and proportionately to the dastardly act. In indiscriminate mortar shelling seven people were injured, of which five succumbed to their injuries. The two survivors were evacuated to Jammu by helicopter.

The crew of the helicopter belonging to 132 FAC flight, Flight Lieutenant Mittal and Flying Officer Akash quickly swung into action and landed at Rajouri at 1200. They were Airborne with, Maurin aged 7 years and Nourin aged 10 years within the next two minutes. They landed at Jammu at 1239 whereon the casualties were shifted to the Civil Hospital,.
