Rana anguished over deaths in cross-LoC shelling | Urges India, Pakistan for restraint on LoC | Balakote, , March 18, (Scoop News)-Local legislator in Mendhar area of Poonch, Javed Ahmed Rana today lambasted both India and Pakistan for grave atrocities against civilians along Line of Control (LoC). Mr. Rana who is NC MLA from Mendhar has urged both India and Pakistan to respect human rights of people living along LoC. "Our people are being literally butchered and treated as mere inanimate objects that can be mortar-shelled at anytime," he charged. 5 civilians were killed this morning by shelling from across LoC and 2 seriously injured when Pak Army started firing on civilian areas. Rana has expressed profound grief and shock over killings and extended condolence to the bereaved families. “Anguished to hear of 5 people losing their lives in the cross-LoC firing in Balakote. My deepest condolences to their family,” Rana condoled. The MLA who rushed to Balakote from Jammu has also directed local Administration to immediately provided ex-gratia relief and other necessary assistance to the victims and NoKs of deceased. Meanwhile, the senior NC leader also accused Prime Minister of India of not doing anything for reducing incessant fear and insecurity among inhabitants along LoC. He said this brutality on LoC cannot go on as our people are being kept under constant fear and insecurity for decades. Rana also lamented utter absence of any resettlement plan of LoC inhabitants and failure of Government of India to construct community bunkers for people living in vulnerable villages along LoC.
