Traditional Archery Society of Chemsak organizes archery tournament


Leh, March 20, (Scoop News)-The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Dorjey Motup lauded the growing enthusiasm among the youth of Ladakh in the field of archery and said that it opened a new avenue to exhibit archery talents of local youth both at National as well as International level. And as such, the youth needed to get more polished with international archery rules and techniques.
The CEC was speaking to a huge number of archers at Sakti on Sunday on the occasion of 4th Tashi Paljor and Lotus Zangpo war hero memorial archery tournament organized by Traditional Archery Society of Chemsak. 22 teams comprising 88 archers from various villages and regions including a PAGIR team participated in this tournament.
The Executive Councilor, Health, Gyal P Wangyal was the guest of the honour on the occasion while as the President, Ladakh Archery Association Rinchen Bayshu was also present as a special guest.
Complementing the organizer and the participants, Dorjey Motup said that this kind of tournament which provides a meeting platform for youth of different villages and areas would prove a boon for strengthening the understanding and relationship between the youth of different areas, and therefore, LAHDC would extend every supports whatever possible to develop infrastructure for further promotion of archery game.
The Executive Councilor Health, Gyal P Wangyal on this occasion said that few specific events like Archery, Marathon and Ice Hockey have immense potential in the geographical environment of Ladakh, as such, the youth specially the upcoming young players should set their target for International events in these realistic events by excelling themselves with latest equipments and techniques. Referring to the commendable efforts of Ladakh Archery Association in bringing the level of archery sports in Ladakh at such a high standard by adopting latest equipments, Gyal Wangyal felt the need to get Ladakh Archery Association affiliated with J&K Sports Council at the earliest possible so that Ladakhi players would get easy access to the International events.
Mentioning the supreme sacrifice of 2099 war heroes Tashi Paljor and Lotus Zangpo of Sakti village, Gyal said that many more heroes in other parts of Ladakh have also given their life for the country, and as such, many educational institutions have named after the war heroes. In this direction, he sought CEC’s direction to all those concerned schools to observe special annual event on the name and feat of these war martyrs.
The Shey Archery Club lifted the 4th Tashi Paljor and Lotus Zangpo war hero memorial archery championship Trophy while as Thiksay Winover team and Sabu-Fu Archery Club stood 2nd and 3rd runner up trophy.
