Seminar held on skill development and felicitation ceremony by army at Rajouri
Jammu,March 20, (Scoop News)- Indian Army organised a 'Seminar on Skill Development' at PG College Rajouri. The event was organised under the aegis of Romeo Force on culmination of the Skill Development programme being conducted by the Army during the last one year for the purpose of youth and women empowerment in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, GOC, White Knight Corps was the Chief Guest of Honour, who felicitated and gave away the Certificates and Medals to all the successful candidates.
As part of this initiative, 63 Skill Development Courses were conducted for the youth including girls totaling more than 1200 in numbers in various vocational fields likes Information Technology, Carpentry, Welding, Plumbing, Driving, Garment Making, Cattle Rearing, Food Processing, etc. As part of Sadhbhavana, all these courses were conducted by State and National level skill development agencies like NSDC, NCVT and MSME where the successful candidates earned Nationally accredited certificates.
In addition to a large number of students from PG College Rajouri, the event was attended by around 600 youth and women who had participated in such courses. The event included a technical session, wherein, representatives from NSDC, EDI and ITI spoke on the subject and enlightened the audience about various skill development initiatives of the government and means to utilise those.
Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, GOC, White Knight Corps, speaking on the occasion stressed upon the importance of acquiring skills which can help an individual to earn his livelihood and contribute towards the development of society and the Nation. He also complimented the civil administration officials of both Rajouri and Poonch Districts for working in close coordination with the Army for making the implementation of skill development programme a resounding success. He conveyed the message that Indian Army will always remain committed towards bringing lasting peace and prosperity in J& K and assured the audience that more such programmes would be undertaken by the Army in future.
