Awareness programmes on Ujjwala Divas held in Kargil
Kargil, April 20, (Scoop News)-Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC) Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan was the chief guest at an awareness programme organized at an Auditorium Hall at Kargil.
The programme organized by Indian Oil Corporation was a part of ongoing countrywide Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan.
Speaking at the programme, the CEC underlined the significance and utility of the Ujjwala scheme for the women living below poverty line. He exhorted upon women to take full benefit of the scheme keeping in view its health benefits, cost efficacy, economy, safety and environment benefits.
On the occasion, other speakers also sensitized the Ujjwala beneficiaries about safety and utility of LPG and health benefits of using clean fuel.
The CEC also distributed 196 PMUY connections among the women beneficiaries.
Similar, kind of awareness programmes, were held across the district.
Meanwhile, a LPG Panchayat was organized by Hindustan Petroleum at Language Centre Kargil wherein use of LPG connections was demonstrated to first-time LPG users. Moreover, the safe and sustainable use of LPG, its benefits and the linkage between use of clean fuel for cooking and women empowerment was also discussed.
Assistant Director FCS&CA Haji Nissar Hussain, Medical Superintendent Kacho Sikander Ali Khan, Headquarter Assistant to Deputy Commissioner Kargil Muhammad Shabir, Dr Amina Khatoon, a number of officers from the District administration, besides a large number of beneficiaries were present on the occasion.
The LPG Panchayats were also held at various LPG distributor locations at Chiktan, Padum and Tai Suru where apart from imparting awareness about Ujjwala Yojana, the beneficiaries and the new LPG users were given a refresher about some of the ongoing schemes such as MUDRA, STAND UP India, Sukanya Samridhi Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).
