DC Jammu reviews progress of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan
Jammu, April 20, (Scoop News)- Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan today convened a meeting to review the progress made under Gram Swaraj Abhiyan.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Jammu directed the concerned officers to devise monitoring mechanism for quantifying the number of beneficiaries on daily basis. All the concerned were directed to ensure that maximum people are made aware of the government sponsored schemes during the programmes to be held as a part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan in the district.
He stressed for close coordination and synergy among line departments for grand success of the Abhiyan. He directed the officers to conduct regular visits and hold awareness camps in the villages to update the people about the benefits of the schemes launched by central government.
DC further directed the officers to identify the bottlenecks in the GSA and remove the same to ensure that the people are fully benefitted of the welfare schemes. He said that the objective of this Abhiyan is to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, obtain feedback on ongoing programmes, enrol in new initiatives, focus on doubling farmers’ income, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities.
He also directed departments including Health, Education, RDD, FCS&CA, Agriculture and SRLM to ensure door to door outreach of schemes including free LPG connections, electricity supply, Jan Dhan accounts, two PM Insurance schemes and the immunization of children with objective to ensure total coverage and saturation in 58 identified villages within 21 days along with focus on all other villages of the district for generating awareness that will ensure success of this Abhiyan.
He said that Union Government has launched “Gram Swaraj Abhiyan which is a high-intensity outreach programme to deliver welfare schemes to those villages which need particular attention.
It is pertinent to mention that this Abhiyan was launched on the occasion of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti aiming 100% coverage of seven schemes launched by central government for eligible beneficiaries in three-weeks from April 14 to 5 May 2018.
Representatives from Government of India besides senior officers of various departments were present on the occasion.
